The Krishi Vigyan Kendra is one of the wings of Mitraniketan engaged primarily in the transfer of technology in agriculture and allied fields by imparting training and carrying out extension work in villages.  This is the oldest Krishi Vigyan Kendra (established in 1979) in the Voluntary sector in the State.

The cardinal principles of Krishi Vigyan Kendra are:

1.    Accelerating agricultural and allied production through adoption of technologies.

2.    “Teaching by doing” and  “Learning by doing” will be the methods of imparting skill training and

3.    Training efforts are to raise the living conditions of the poorest of the poor.

Since each Krishi Vigyan Kendra designs its own training programme based on the local needs, there is no common syllabus for the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.  The following are the disciplines presently functioning in this Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

1. Agronomy                           2.  Horticulture            3. Agriculture Extension

4. Agricultural Engineering      5. Home Science        6. Animal Science.

KVK conducts

 

Vocational Training programme on “Landscaping and Nursery Management, On Job Training, Farmer’s Field School, Organic Farming, Workshop/Seminars conducted, Sensitization Workshop on Processing of agricultural Management for Programme Coordinators,  Cooking Competition, ON Farm Testing Programme and Front Line Demonstrations.
